Built around 600 years ago, the Forbidden City in Beijing, China continues to be the largest imperial palace complex in the world. Forbidden for over 500 years during the Chinese monarchy, only emperors, the imperial family, and servants truly know what happens beyond the city bounded by walls. Today, we question what will become of Forbidden City’s legacy. Will it continue to be forbidden? Or can it find a new purpose with relevance to the people around it?
